Your course fees will depend on the type of place you’re offered, your eligibility and any financial support applied to your course.
The cost of the Certificate varies:
- Standard full fee is $13,600* per 60 credit points (full-time annual load).
- Postgraduate fee support is $10,880** per 60 credit points (full-time annual load).
* Standard full fee is a place in your course that is not subsidised by the Australian Government or university. You can choose to pay these fees upfront or you may be eligible to defer your payment with FEE-HELP, the Australian Government loan program.
** Postgraduate fee support: Up to 25% fee reduction on eligible postgraduate award courses, available only to domestic students that meet the entry criteria and have a course WAM of 60% or equivalent. When you enrol into an eligible postgraduate award course, you will automatically be considered for a postgraduate fee support place.

Designed specifically for educators, our Online Graduate Certificate in Mental Health for Education can teach you how to make a positive impact on the mental health of students as well as how to manage mental health within the school system. Throughout our Certificate’s four subjects, you will explore topics in school responsiveness, trauma theory, experiences and perceptions of mental illness and therapeutic skills for mental health.
When you complete the Graduate Certificate, you will be able to:
- Apply understandings of the experiences and perceptions of mental well-being in the context of family, school and community to contribute to the development and restoration of safe learning environments.
- Create culturally safe learning environments through respectful language and terminology, acknowledging the relationship between culture and well-being.
- Participate in cross-disciplinary teams to promote universal approaches to well-being, demonstrating a functional understanding of mental health systems and community support resources available to schools and individuals.
- Lead school-based teams in the design and implementation of person-centered responses to well-being needs, including strategies for promoting relational advocacy, collaborative conversations and evidence-based practices.
The La Trobe Online Graduate Certificate of Mental Health for Education is a nested qualification within the Master of Education that can be taken as a standalone Graduate Certificate. Upon completing the Certificate, you have the option of continuing to La Trobe’s Master of Education degree with advanced standing.
